Candidates attending this seminar present final documentation and evidence of professional certificate level knowledge, skill and performance as approved by professional growth teams. COURSE RATIONALE: This seminar employs the constructivist model of learning in which candidates, in interaction with their physical and social environments, create knowledge. This seminar is consistent with the: • University’s mission, “Docendo Disimus” – by teaching we learn • College of Education and Professional Studies’ mission – to prepare enlightened leaders, and • Center of Teaching and Learning theme – facilitators of learning in a diverse world As outlined in WAC 180-78A-535: Approval Standard – Program Design (1)(v), Culminating Seminar candidates will: SPECIFIC LEARNER OUTCOMES (SLO) PERFORMANCE INDICATOR 1. present final documentation and evidence of professional certificate level knowledge, skill and performance Completed portfolio with signatures of approval from Professional Growth Team 2. present evidence of positive impact on student learning Completed Professional Certification Pre-Assessment Plan (PCPP) for Standard I: Effective Teaching; completed Applied Classroom Inquiry Project for Standard II: Professional Development 3. present evidence of professional growth and contributions Completed PCPP’s for Standard II: Professional Development and Standard III: Professional Contribution 4. identification of future goals and professional/career interests Completed Post-Certification professional growth plan COURSE TOPICS: 1. Review of Applied Inquiry Project. 2. Review of Professional Certification Pre-Assessment Plans for all standards. 3. Post-certification professional growth plan and approval 4. Presentation of complete, approved portfolio to Pre-Assessment seminar candidatesECTL 609 – Professional Certificate Culminating Seminar Page 2 of 2 METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: This course will be offered in a variety of delivery modes, including formal meeting, distance education, or electronically. ASSESSMENT: Candidates will submit an electronic portfolio on LiveText and hard copy of Professional Growth Record with Verification of Completion signed by the Professional Growth Team (teacher mentor, administrative supervisor, and university faculty member) and candidate. Grading for this course will be Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Continued LiveText membership.
