Dress appropriate for weather conditions. Supplies: Golf clubs, bag, golf balls and tees; clothing appropriate for golf—may include t-shirts, shorts, and/or sweats. Soft-spiked golf shoes or soft soled athletic shoe. Optional: sunscreen and insect repellant. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES GOLF 1113 EVUALATION 1. Student will demonstrate knowledge of proper grip, Performance evaluation stance & posture when addressing the golf ball 2. Student will apply knowledge gained for the use of Performance assessment various clubs. 3. Student will demonstrate knowledge of proper use of Performance assessment pre-shot routine Student written routine 4. Student will demonstrate knowledge of putting, chip Performance assessment & run shots and various golf swings (quarter, half & Skill test three-quarter swing) needed for the game of golf 5. Each student will demonstrate knowledge of proper Performance evaluation etiquette, attitude & conduct during practice & play Skill test time on the golf course 6. Student will be able to apply the knowledge gained in Performance evaluation class to safely play a game of golf, which included Written examination proper use of rules, proper scoring & total play. 7. Each student will demonstrate an interest in golf by Performance evaluation attending and participating in class Attendance recordsGrading Policy: Your grade in this course will be based on the following: 1. Performance evaluated by instructor 20% a. Correct technique and execution of the full swing, approach shots & putting b. Attitude, conduct and etiquette c. Safety Practices d. Knowledge of and adherence to the rules of golf 2. Participation, attendance and punctuality 50% a. There are no excused absences. b Every absence results in 10 points subtracted from the participation grade in the course. c. On the forth {4th} absence, the student may be dropped from the class. d. If the 4th absence occurs after the drop date, you will receive an “F” for the course. e. You must be on time to class. A tardy results in 3 points subtracted from the participation grade in the course. The number of minutes the tardy involves will determine if it will be recorded as a tardy or an absence. It will be a tardy if you are less than 15 minutes late. f. The same rules will be applied when a student LEAVES CLASS EARLY. Students may be dropped from the class for Leaving Early. g. You may make-up a maximum of 2 absences by attending any of my other golf classes 3. Evaluations tools 20% a. Skills tests and drills b. If skill level permits course play: Score cards: signed, dated and turned in at the end of each class Keeping & analyzing statistics (fairways hit, greens in regulation, up & downs, putts) of hole by hole performance on the golf course 4. Instruction will depend on the experience and skill level of the student. Week 1 Introduction Read and discuss syllabus Answer questions about course and equipment ` Safety issues Etiquette Golf course orientation – relevant policies, cost, etc. Student Survey Week 2 Explanation of correct practice routine Pre‐shot routine Intermediate target Stroke Development 5‐7 swing Grip, setup, stance, alignment Pitching wedge to 7 iron Putting techniques Week 3 5 – 7 swing mid‐irons Week 4 5 – 7 swing woods & hybrids Week 5 Swing Development 3 – 9 swing Pitching wedge to 7 iron Written pre‐shot routine Week 6 3 – 9 swing mid‐irons, hybrids & woods Chip & Run Week 7 Full swing pitching wedge to 7 iron Week 8 Skill Assessment – Chipping and Putting Full swing mid‐irons, hybrids and woods Week 9 Scoring, rules, etiquette, club selection, etc. via on‐course Week 10 Course Play Week 11 Course Play Week 12 Skill Assessment Course Play Week 13 2 Person Scramble Tournament – stroke play Week 14 2 Person Scramble Tournament – match play Week 15 Written final exam/Course play 4.1.1.1.
