Query 5: Verification of Interventions, Measurement Lab, and Intermediate Presentation CEE-243, Spring 2011 1 April 29, 2011 Query 5 Query overview In 2009, your predecessors provided several recommendations to the building owners to improve performance. A list of these recommendations and the current status has been uploaded to the wiki. Your goal this is week is to begin verifying the extent to which these interventions have been successfully completed. You will also follow-up on the measurement lab conducted last week by comparing your handheld measurements to the building system measurements and providing next steps for sensor verification. Finally, you will provide slides for a short intermediate presentation on Thursday, May 5th. Due Date 1:15 pm Thursday, May 5. Please submit your analysis through your group’s wiki page and the ORID analysis on CourseWork. Presentation slides should be submitted to CourseWork by 12:00 pm Thursday, May 5. What to submit Verification of Interventions By looking at 2011 data, please provide assessment of the extent of any success of the remedy to the 2009 reported problem to which you have been assigned. Include the following: 1. (2 points) one or a small set of 2009 SEE IT graphs that you annotate to identify features that do not conform to function and that correspond to the problem reported in 2009 as you now see. Add traffic light status and an annotation of its meaning to you. 2. (2 points) one or a small set of 2011 SEE IT graphs that you annotate to identify presence, change or absence of those 2009 problematic features. Comment on your judgment about the possible impact on building performance of whatever change the building operators made. 3. Update the Problem Status segment of the Wiki with a link to your 2011 status assessment. Please continue to employ previously discussed analytical and visualization methods. Measurement Verification Please assess the extent to which the data you collected with handheld instruments align with corresponding sensor data in SEE IT. Include the following: 4. (2 points) Plot the handheld sensor data points on top of SEE IT graphs of corresponding data. Annotate the graph to describe the extent of consistency of inconsistency between manual and building management system (BMS) measurements. If there is a discrepancy, suggest how to determine which measured value might be more correct.Query 5: Verification of Interventions, Measurement Lab, and Intermediate Presentation CEE-243, Spring 2011 2 April 29, 2011 5. (2 points) Summarize a strategy the owner could follow to systematically and periodically verify accuracy of BMS reported sensor measurements. ORID Analysis 7. ORID analysis (1 point). Please briefly summarize - Objective: What facts did you see this week? What factual statements can you make based on the data? - Reflective: What surprised you? What encouraged or discouraged you? - Interpretive: What sense to you make of what you did this week? - Decisional: What are our proposed next steps? What is your action plan for next steps? Intermediate Presentations During lab on Thursday, May 5th, your group will provide a brief presentation on the progress you have made so far throughout the series of queries. Focus on what is of particular interest and what you will be pursuing through the end of the quarter. Your presentation may include your system, representative, or utility level analysis, or any combination. You may include graphs and slides already created, but please update any older slides based on feedback and visual improvements. Please target your presentation to be less than 7 minutes long, so we may have time for additional discussion. Slides should be submitted to CourseWork by 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 5th.
