Emily Cheng 5.18.2006 SP.747 Final Project Explanation For my final project, I wanted to compile images that represented part of Boston I’ve enjoyed throughout the past four years. Graduation is so close that I’ve started to feel a bit of nostalgia for both MIT and Boston. For the background of the image, I used a portion of a tree located along the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. I’ve walked down that mall dozens of times, and I always enjoy it. Then, I used a compilation of images from the Boston area and modified each to my liking. - reduced size and added white border (40px wide) using the Edit Stroke tool. The picture on the left is a picture of the city taken from the Skywalk inside the Prudential center. The second is of a small “island” located in the Boston Public Gardens. All the landscaping in the Public Gardens is very beautiful, especially during the spring, so I always enjoy taking photographs of it. - This is a photo of the Boston skyline taken from a boat off the harbor. I reduced size and cropped to just have skyline with less water. Added a border (40 px wide) using the Edit Stroke function. Final result is below:- I reduced the size of this image, decreased the brightness and increased the contrast. The original was too light and hard to see. Like the rest of the images, I reduced the size and added a border. Again, I really like the Boston Public Gardens.  - I added a border, reduced the size, and erased the lady with her dog. This statue is a part of the Boston Women’s Memorial on Commonwealth Avenue. It’s dedicated to three important women in Boston’s history: Abigail Adams, Lucy Stone, and Phillis Wheatley. It’s one of my favorite memorials along Commonwealth. Finally, I scanned in images that represented some of the most memorable things I’ve done in Boston while at MIT. I saw “The Lion King” at the Theatre District about a year ago and really enjoyed it, so I included the Playbill from that night in the collage. I was also lucky enough to attend two baseball games at Fenway while I’ve been here. The first was against the Baltimore Orioles, which is my hometown team. The second was against the New York Yankees, which anyone would know is a Red Sox rival. Lastly, I included a small MIT logo at the top of the collage. MIT first a foremost was the reason for my being in Boston in the first place, so I wanted the logo to serve as a “cornerstone” almost for my life in
